In yesterdays post I shared how much I love using the rag doll exercise.

One of the great things about rag doll is it can be great to facilitate space for and mobility of the lumbar plexus.

Here I offer two sequences focused on two common nerves of the lumbar plexus that can often be not gliding well.

The sequences being:

  • rag doll

  • obturator nerve glide

  • lateral ankle tilt

OR

  • rag doll

  • lateral femoral cutaneous nerve glide

  • lateral ankle tilt

I love adding the lateral ankle tilt for these sequences as often when there is a lumbar plexus issue there is a visceral restriction and that often comes with a restriction at the proximal tib-fib joint.

Keep in mind for the nerve glides it is important to keep them low intensity often having more power when you don’t even feel “a stretch”.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Try about 4-6 reps. It doesn’t take much to create change.
